Quantum computing is a nascent business sector that is growing rapidly. There is a global shortage of quantum talent. Post-secondary professors, post-doctoral researchers, as well as PhD, post-graduate and undergraduate students hold a significant share of the world’s quantum expertise and can help drive the growth of this transformative sector.
The Quantum Algorithms Institute supports researchers, educators and students to collaborate with industry, governments, and non-profit organizations. We partner on applied research projects, create and deliver training to industry and government professionals, and promote Canada’s quantum expertise to the world.
The Quantum Algorithms Institute helps to make Canada a hub of world-class quantum knowledge and a vibrant and collaborative quantum community.
Our Academic Affiliates program is now open to applications from all post-secondary faculty and students in Canada who have interests in applied quantum technologies and software, including faculty and students in applied disciplines such as finance, telecommunications, security, transportation & logistics, life sciences, where quantum technologies can solve industry problems.

What’s New for QAI Academic Affiliates
IBM Quantum System One
With the announcement of the opening of the IBM Quantum System One in Quebec, QAI has formed an agreement with the Platform for Digital and Quantum Innovation of Quebec (PINQ²) to provide access to the IBM system for BC post-secondary faculty and students. QAI is covering the cost of access to the IBM system as a pilot for a period of 6 months, in support of the continued research excellence in B.C. Please contact us if you are interested in accessing the system.
D-Wave Quantum Computing Training @ QAI
D-Wave Quantum Computing Training @ QAI is a self-paced and instructor supported 1-week online course, followed by one-month unlimited access to the D-Wave Leap™ Quantum Cloud service. This is a short, intensive time-period to learn how to use D-Wave Leap™ and explore how D-Wave quantum hardware and services can apply to a wide range of applications across multiple industries.
The Quantum Algorithms Institute is covering the full cost for the training and access to the D-Wave Leap™ Quantum Cloud service.
